Bernadette’s Story: Finding Family, Healing, and Hope in Vincennes.
What began as a new job became something much more for Bernadette: a community, a support system, and a place where she could heal, grow, and belong.
Moving to a new city is never easy, but doing so while carrying the heavy weight of grief can feel overwhelming. When Bernadette first arrived in Vincennes, that is where she was; grieving the loss of her mother, and searching for a sense of belonging in her new reality.

A New Opportunity
With the help of our Opportunity Services Vocational Rehabilitation Program, Bernadette was able to build confidence and even apply for a job at Evansville Goodwill Vincennes location.
What started as a job, quickly turned into much more: a community that cared about her and that she could rely on.
Finding a Place to Belong
That sense of belonging gave Bernadette what she needed to heal and grow. Today, she continues to flourish, and even shares her warmth with every person she encounters.
